Like Netflix Series The Watcher, 3 True Crime Psychological Thrillers To Binge

Ryan Murphy directed the latest true crime psychological thriller series, The Watcher, just dropped on Netflix this weekend and the internet can’t stop talking about it. While the series and the real story behind it kept the fans hooked enough to binge watch the series, many of them have been criticising the ending.

The series is based on a true story from 2014 about a married couple who moved into their dream home investing every penny they had. Soon after shifting, the family began receiving threat letters from someone calling himself ‘The Watcher’, who is obsessed with the two children in the family and stalks them every moment.

While the series took the skeleton of the true story, and built it up enough to keep the audiences hooked, it couldn’t do justice with its anti-climax ending. It tried to give a solution to a situation that did not exist.

Zodiac

Directed by David Fincher, the 2007 American mystery thriller film Zodiac stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. among several others. The film narrates the true story of the manhunt for the Zodiac Killer, a serial killer who terrorised the San Francisco Bay Area during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The murderer taunted police with letters and bloodstained clothing, and mailed cyphers to newspapers.

Scream

Inspired by the real-life case of the Gainesville Ripper, the 1996 film Scream was a horror film involving the stalking and killing of a group of people. The film narrates a high school student named Sidney Prescott (Campbell) and her group of friends in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California. The entire group becomes the target of a mysterious killer in a Halloween costume known as Ghostface. Gainesville Ripper was an American serial killer who murdered five students in Florida and later confessed to raping several of his victims, and committing a triple homicide in his home city in Louisiana.

Dahmer- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

Yet another true crime drama psychological thriller series from Ryan Murphy is the 2022 American biographical filmMonster- Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.The series follows the intentions of Jeffrey Dahmer and how he became one of the most dangerous serial killers of the time. His murders were executed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Ohio between 1978 and 1991 which consisted of men and adolescent boys.
