The concept of live-in relationships is still new to many. Others consider it a taboo. Well, it is a really urban concept but Bollywood filmmakers are making sure that they bring everyone on the same page. Thanks to the change in the cinema we are witnessing today. Filmmakers are taking up concepts that need to be openly talked about. Times are changing and now we are seeing people having a different perception towards things and some credit does go to Bollywood. Movies like Padman, Badhaai Ho, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha have been able to change the thinking of people somewhere. These all revolved around touchy topics but who knew they would do such great box office? That's maybe because somewhere people connected with it. Now coming to live-in relationships, you never know if people actually start believing in it as strongly as they would in the institution of marriage. Well, we will have to wait to see that. Meanwhile, Luka Chuppi, starring Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan, is an upcoming movie that revolves around live-in relationships. Just before its release, we had a quick chat with Kriti on live-in relationships and more. Read on.
What Is Your Take On Live-In Relationships?
I really feel like its okay. I will really never judge someone who wants to go for a live-in relationship. I think most of us want to get married only once and we want to be absolutely sure of the person we are marrying. If going for a live-in relationship gives you a little bit of clarity on that then you should absolutely go for it.
The Concept Of Live-in Relationships Is Still Newer To Many. Does That Make You Worry?
Not at all because we are actually explaining it in the movie. Since this live-in relationship story is set in a small town of Mathura, the concept is very new. That is the thing about the movie, something very urban like live-in relationships is set in Mathura, where it is not understood and judged to another level. When the live-in happens 'saparivaar' in the movie, that is another twist altogether. Don't Miss Struggling To Make Him Commit To You? Try These Easy Tricks That Actually Work
How Did Your Life Change After Bareilly Ki Barfi?
Bareilly Ki Barfi got me more opportunities. I started getting more offers, especially in small-town roles. In fact, 90% of the roles were small-town roles only. Before Bareily Ki Barfi most people used to think that I am an urban girl and they were not sure if I could do small town roles. But I am really glad that this perception has changed. There are some films that act as milestones in your career and Bareily is that movie for me.
Do You Think That Doing De-glamorous Roles Makes People Notice Your Acting?
I don't know. It's really confusing becauseideally,it should not happen. So I personally feel like Raabta was also a movie that broke me as an actor. I put in way more effort in the film ascomparedto Bareily Ki Barfi but the film didn't work so it didn't really matter. Fortunately, Bareily worked for me. I just feel that sometimes when the mask or the make-up is not there, people can see more easily through you, they see the actor. Anyways, it sounds really stupid and it shouldn't happen like that. For the first time for the audience, I was doing a lot more as an actor. There were scenes in the movie where I could perform well as an actor. So I think it varies from the success of the film also.
You Stepped In As An Outsider But Now Looks Like You Have Made A Place For Yourself In The Industry. How Have Times Changed?
I still feel there is a long way to go. I feel way lower at the ladder where I want to be. I feel a lot more comfortable at filmy parties now and more a part of the industry as compared to the times when I just entered Bollywood. There is so much more I want to do, I want to do so much different kind of roles, work with different directors, get great opportunities. A lot needs to be still conquered.
Well, that was Kriti Sanon on live-in relationships, Bareilly ki barfi and more. For more exclusive celeb chats, stay tuned.
