It takes lots of time, effort and energy to grow houseplants to beautiful green foliage. But while you are on your vacation, these plants suffer a lot. If you are a plant parent, you will feel that anxiety of leaving your green babies behind. But not anymore. We have got you simple gardening tips and tricks that will keep your plants healthy even in your absence.
Water Your Plants Thoroughly
Before leaving the house for vacation make sure to water your plants thoroughly. But here’s the catch. Don’t leave them under the sun because direct sunlight will dry them up. Keep them in a shady area. Generally, indoor plants that are watered properly sustain for a week. However, it might not be true for every plant. In that case, you can choose a pot with water retention material such as plastic or glazed ceramic pots.
Implement A Wick Watering System
If you are going on a long vacation then you can implement a wick watering system (gardening tips for beginners) for your indoor plants. Take a large water container and dip one end of a long cotton rope in it. Take the other end of the rope and push it into the soil of your plants. The cotton rope will wick the water from the container into the plant and thus will keep it moisturised.
Take Help From A Friend Or Neighbour
If nothing works out, you can get help either from your friend who stays near your house or your neighbour to take care of your plants. You can ask them to water your plants regularly while you are on vacation.
