How To Grow Rose In Water

  1. Select a healthy and actively thriving rose bush.
  2. Take a sharp knife and make an angled cut on the rose’s stem right below a node.
  3. Only keep about 3 top leaves plucking out the rest to ensure the energy is contributed to the root growth.
  4. In a clean vase or jar, fill some room-temperature water. You can add rooting hormone for enhanced root growth.
  5. Place the rose cutting in the vessel. The lower node must be submerged while leaves remain outside.
  6. Place the container in a well-lit spot to provide the rose some indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can boil the water impeding the plant’s growth.
  7. Ensure replacing the water every 4 days to help your plant flourish with fresh oxygen (Indoor Plants For Oxygen).
  8. The roots are usually developed within three to four weeks, however, it may differ. You may detect fragile white roots budding from the nodes.
  9. After the roots have grown about two inches long, you can transfer them to a pot filled with well-draining soil and potting mix. The pot must have a drainage hole as well.
  10. You may also keep it in water, however, it will limit the plant’s growth depriving it of essential nutrients and subjecting it to a chance of rotting.
