Coriander, popularly known as dhaniya in the country is a staple herb in our kitchens. Coriander leaves are commonly used in temperings, salads, and curries. How To Grow Coriander Plant At Home?
Coriander can be grown from both cuttings and seeds. We spoke to Kamlesh Kushwaha, the gardener of the nursery located in Noida Sector 27 and he shared that a coriander plant can be grown from coriander seeds which are commonly used in Indian kitchens. Take a pot and add soil. Coriander can be grown via the direct sowing method. Crush the coriander seeds using a rolling pin as it helps boost the growth. Sprinkle these seeds all over. You can also grow coriander in rows to make the plant look cleaner.
To grow coriander from cuttings, take some coriander stems from a healthy plant. Plant these stems directly into the soil. Make sure you put the stems at a distance of 3-4 inches.

How To Take Care Of Coriander Plant?
- Water plays a key role to grow a healthy coriander plant. After sowing the seeds or planting the cuttings, make sure you water them twice a day till they start to germinate. If you notice the stem becoming dry, water the plant immediately.
- It can take almost a month for fresh coriander leaves to grow. For use, make sure you cut the herb from the stem so that the plant regrows easily.
- While choosing the soil, opt for soil with a crumbly texture. For a healthy plant, choose organic soil.
- Coriander plant needs full sunlight to grow. Keep them in direct light for at least two to three hours a day. However, make sure you don't keep the plant outside in the sun when the temperature is too hot.

- To increase your plant's growth, you can use a fertiliser twice every month.
- Coriander leaves begin to flower quickly and this process is called bolting. This means that once they start to bolt, you won't get enough leaves. To get enough coriander leaves, make sure you water the plant well. However, never overwater the plant or it can completely damage your plant.
- Place your plant in an area where they get proper air circulation.
- Make sure you keep using coriander leaves from the plant as they grow. This will help produce new leaves and keep your plant healthy.
- Seasoned gardener Kamlesh Kushwaha shared that coriander is a low-maintenance plant and it isn't challenging to grow it. However, if pests take over, it is important to immediately use a pest spray easily available in the market to get rid of the problem.
