You head back home after an exhausting day at work only to find greasy utensils piled up in the kitchen sink. The thought of spending hours cleaning them is scary right? Like most of you, cleaning utensils is my least favourite household chore. No matter how tiring the job is, you just can't skip it because you can't cook the next meal without those essentials.

As easy as it might sound, washing utensils not only leaves you worn out but takes a lot of your time too. There are times when you just aren't able to get rid of the greasiness and stains, making it longer for you to clean them. For the longest time, I was looking for hacks to clean utensils quickly. I have used a couple of them and thought they might work for you as well.

Always Use Hot Water

Hot water will help break the grease and stains faster. Wear your gloves and keep the utensil under running hot water. Add some dishwashing soap, just some scrubbing and you have a squeaky clean utensil.

Replace Your Scrubber

One reason why you aren't able to wash your utensils can be that an overused scrubber is no longer doing its job. Depending on your usage, keep replacing your scrubbers.

Use Salt

The built-up grease might not break with just hot water and dishwashing soap. In this case, you will need some salt. Sprinkle salt over all your utensils and rub them a little. Salt is a natural absorbent and will help clean the grease quickly.

Try Pre-soaking

On days you know your utensils aren't too greasy and you want to be quickly done with the cleaning, try the pre-soak hack. In a tub, fill hot water and 4-5 tbsp of washing liquid. Mix and put all your utensils in the bucket. Let them sit for 10 minutes and then rinse under running water.

Squeeze Some Lemon

Getting rid of the oiliness isn't easy. Your utensils might look clean but they aren't if you spot oiliness on the edges. For such oily utensils, keep some lemons handy. Squeeze some lemon juice or rub half a lemon over the utensil. Let it sit for five minutes and then wash.

Baking Soda And Vinegar For Cutlery

Spoons and forks have to be spotless and it can be time-consuming to wash one at a time. A quick hack is putting all the cutlery in a bowl or a glass container. Sprinkle baking soda over the cutlery and next pour white vinegar over the top. The mixture will quickly remove all the grime. Keep for a few minutes and then rinse under running water.

Don't Wash Everything At Once

I am sure a lot of you try the wash-everything-at-once hack to get done of the cleaning quickly. However, it only adds to the time. Try batch washing. For instance, begin with cutlery, followed by bowls, plates, and then bigger utensils like a cooker or non-stick pan.
