According to Tushar Joshi, founder, Utkarsh Vastukaran, “In 2024, eco-conscious choices dominate home interiors, with an emphasis on recycled materials, upcycled furniture, and energy-efficient design.” This year had more furniture and décor crafted from reclaimed wood, bamboo, cork, and other renewable resources. These elements not only look beautiful but also reduce environmental impact.
Homeowners are increasingly choosing non-toxic paints, sealants, and materials that focus on improving indoor air quality. Alongside this, indoor plants continue to be a trend, with biophilic design bringing nature indoors.
2. Modern Maximalism
While minimalism remains a favorite for many, modern maximalism gained major attraction 2024, celebrating individuality through curated layers of colour, texture, and patterns. Tushar Joshi further shared that, “Statement walls, oversized artwork, bold wallpapers, and unique murals bring character to home spaces and were in trend this year. People are embracing a blend of vintage and contemporary pieces to create personalised, storied interiors.”
3. Technology-Integrated Homes
The smart home revolution is still going strong, but in 2024, the focus has shifted to integrating technology more smoothly with home design. “From concealed speakers to retractable screens, the goal is to make technology unobtrusive. Adjustable lighting systems that mimic natural light cycles and smart thermostats enhance comfort and energy efficiency, says Tushar Joshi. Tables, desks, and nightstands with built-in wireless charging capabilities are becoming more mainstream and will even be popular in 2024.

According to Ekta Verma, founder, ETOS Design, “Mid-century modern Clean lines, tapered legs, and retro colour palettes continue to be popular. Think bold patterns, rich colours, and a touch of glamour with brass and glass accents were also seen in 2024.”

The appreciation for craftsmanship is driving the demand for handmade and artisanal items. Ekta Verma says, “Artisans and handcrafted pieces were in a lot of trend in 2024, ceramics and pottery add charm to the living space and handwoven rugs, throws, and cushions bring a cozy and personal touch.” Bespoke furniture pieces tailored to individual preferences are a key trend for those seeking one-of-a-kind designs.

As per Ekta Verma, “Freestanding tubs, rain showers, and calming colour palettes transform bathrooms into sanctuaries giving homeowners a spa-like experience. Cozy nooks for reading, meditation, or hobbies create areas for unwinding which gives you a relaxing space.” Bringing in scents, textures, and lighting that engage the senses helps create a peaceful and calming atmosphere in your home.
