Being a housewife sounds like fun especially when you have had a very busy job life before. However, many of us, after few weeks, start getting bored with a mundane routine. There's no challenge in your life anymore. We get bummed by the idea that we are now jobless, penniless and bored. The best way to get over this boredom or monotony in life is taking up hobbies we like.

Here is a list of some valuable hobbies you could try:

Wake up that bookworm in you: Reading can be fun if you want it to be. Agreed it scares many of us as it reminds us of school or the not-so-fun studying sessions. Take up a light read say a “Harry Potter” novel, or a “Confessions of a Shopaholic” or any other genre to begin with.

At times such books can put you into that flow that pushes you into reading. You can also make this a fun activity by challenging yourself with it. For example, challenge yourself to read the whole collection of Agatha Christie's work, or read Charles Dickens' “Great Expectation”. Or maybe, you can read on something lighter. If you want to get out of the comfort of your home, go to a library, or perhaps invest in a Kindle.

Needlework: Make socks, bags, sweaters mufflers, throws, home decorations, hats, toys, baby apparel, slippers etc by crocheting. Knitting and cross stitching are some other options too. Once you are hooked to it, you will not feel bored again.

Become a writer:Pen down your thoughts, weave some childhood memories with some of your imagination and turn them into a story! Start writing at least an article a day. It is not difficult at all. You can talk about things you like, maintain a blog.

Learn a new language: Try learning a new language --online or take up classes—It will not only help you read story books or listen to their music. But also help you if you travel to the country where it is spoken. It is always very enriching to explore the other culture through their language.
