Pregnancy is the most beautiful phase in the life of a woman. As a woman becomes a mother, she evolves and it is all very magical. Right from the time she gets to know that she will be giving birth to a living being to actually holding the little one in her hands, the emotions can’t be expressed in words. It is the happiest time in the life of a woman and she just can’t hold her excitement and tell it to the world. However, that is not the case of every woman. Not every woman can share it out with everyone, especially Bollywood celebrities. Always under the camera, Bollywood actresses don’t have the freedom to share this good news with the world. Wonder why? We will tell you!
Talk of Bollywood sexism and we can’t miss talking about the ideal heroine. The ideal woman as per Bollywood is someone who is has a great sex appeal among other things. And apparently, it starts fading off once the actress gets married or pregnant. However, when actresses like Aishwarya or Kareena continue after getting married or having a child, their movie is titled as their “comeback” as if they had left acting for all that time. This bias makes it all difficult for the actresses.
Hiding Motherhood
The new mother-to-be, Neha Dhupia got married to long-time boyfriend Angad Bedi in a hush-hush wedding and her pregnancy came as a shock to all of us. Neha kept it a secret for long time. In a recent interview, Neha shared something really shocking! Neha shared that she was worried is she would stop getting work but she was happy that her bump didn’t show until six months. She had this fear that people would start considering her unfit for a job. Well, is it right to stop offering an actor projects as soon as she gets pregnant? At least, Bollywood thinks that way!

We wonder what makes the media question about family plans as soon as a Bollywood couple gets married. The same happened when Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan got married and there were questions on family plans from all over. Aishwarya attended a lot of events while she was pregnant and no one stopped asking her about the pregnancy. There came a time when it got really difficult for her to hide her pregnancy and a few days later her father-in-law shared that Aishwarya is expecting a baby on his Twitter handle.
Bollywood And Sexism
Kareena Kapoor Khan pregnancy became a headline when she was once spotted coming out of an airport covering her stomach with a dupatta. Ever since then, there was news that Kareena is pregnant. A lot of interviews and appearances post that; finally, Saif Ali Khan announced the news of Kareena’s pregnancy. However, Kareena set a great example for every actress by flaunting her baby bump at all events.
It is high time, the starry world of Bollywood understands the beauty of motherhood and appreciates it well rather than making it difficult for the actresses. Surely, these actresses don’t lose on their talent as they get married or pregnant. Actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aishwarya Rai have proved that a female actresses’ career doesn’t end with her getting pregnant. These actresses should get an equal space where they don’t face any pressure like men, even if they get married or become a father. If things don’t change now, we will only be left with sexism.
