Govinda Naam Mera Trailer: Katrina Reacts To Vicky Kaushal's Quirky Murder Case

The trailer of the much-awaited Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Govinda Naam Mera was unveiled at an event on November 20, 2022. Katrina Kaif has adorably reacted to the trailer and said, “Very good, love.”

The trailer begins with Govinda (played by Kaushal) calling out to Suku (played by Advani), who appears in a yellow chiffon saree. But, it was just a dream from which he is woken by getting kicked by his wife Gauri (played by Pednekar). Later, Gauri is seen insulting Govinda and calls him "bekaar" (useless) while introducing him to her boyfriend. After meeting her boyfriend, Govinda asks for a divorce in response to which Gauri tells him that it will cost him ₹2 crores. The trailer also features some romantic moments between Govinda and Suku and the duo’s chemistry during the dance sequences is crackling. However, their happiness doesn’t last long as Govinda and Suku discover a body at his house. Though the trailer shows Govinda pointing a gun at Gauri earlier, it does not reveal if it is Gauri's body.

"Kahaani ek, twists aur turns anek! Mere hi life mein kyun hai itne saare problems? A murder, some mystery, lots of thrill and masala guaranteed!" wrote Kaushal while sharing the trailer on social media.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Govinda Naam Mera looks like a gripping and comical take on a thrilling murder case. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Khaitan himself under the banners of Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.

Last week, Kaushal and Johar announced that their first venture together, Govinda Naam Mera, will have a direct OTT release. The film was initially scheduled to release in theatres on June 11, 2022. However, it was halted and now it is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 16, 2022.

Sharing a fun video talking about the film, Kaushal and Johar announced the film . Johar is seen pitching the script of Govinda Naam Mera to Kaushal, who is not quite convinced about the protagonist’s role as the former calls the actor a “firecracker entertainer.” But, Johar also mentions that he always portrays “intense” characters such as commandos, freedom fighters, and quoting from his debut film Masaan, Johar asks “dukh tera khatam hi nahi hota (your pain seems to be never ending).” However, Johar tries to convince him to do a ‘masaaledar’ film and says, “Masaale mein bhi range hai, (there is a range in commercial films also) I want to see #FunVicky.”

Narrating the plotline of Govinda Naam Mera, Johar starts, “There is a character called Govinda…” who is a background dancer with lots of debts to pay off or his house will be snatched away from him. His wife has an extramarital affair and also beats him, but, the only good thing in his life is he has a girlfriend and he gets to romance in the Mumbai rains. Initially dicey, Kaushal is later convinced to work on the project.
