Back in 1990, the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic unified to mark the first-ever single German state. Interestingly, the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989, which marked the end of the Cold War made provision for German Reunification. Thereafter, the Unification Treaty was signed on September 20, 1990, and October 3 was declared a national holiday which ultimately sealed the end of the division of Germany.
