- The Puranas suggest that Maa Durga resides in the hibiscus flower while the green part of the flower represents Mercury and Cauda (Ketu or the tail of Dragon).
- The saffron portion is considered to be the representation of Mars and the red part, of the sun.
- Also, the planet Jupiter or Guru resides in the germination of the flower, Rahu, in the middle part of germination and Saturn, in the last part.
- The seed part of the flower is believed to be accommodating the moon.
- Because of all these beliefs, you are advised to offer hibiscus flowers to Maa Durga during Navratri for wish-fulfilment.
