Street art is artwork that is displayed in public places on surrounding buildings, dilapidated walls, and other publicly visible surfaces. The work has moved away from the beginnings of graffiti and vandalism, and is often commissioned by the government or private companies for social messaging and beautification of the city.
It has become a part of Delhi’s culture and is always a treat for passersby. It can turn a mundane and dull space into a visually striking neighbourhood. Here are five street art spots in Delhi which are a must visit:
Shahpur Jat
Shahpur Jat is an urban village near the architectural marvel Siri Fort, which has become a home to designer boutiques and shops. Along the narrow streets decorated with vivid wall murals lie small stores offering teas, printed pillow cases, and artisanal saris and tunics. There are many coffee shops and restaurants serving Indian and Continental cuisines.
The basic theme of street art at Shahpur Jat is animals, but one can find mysterious and mythical creatures at different spots in the village.
