As the winters have passed, the long unbearable hot days of summer have arrived. With the temperature rising up, it sounds impossible to stay without an air conditioner or a cooler. However, AC’s aren’t cheap and not everyone can afford it. Or I can say, AC’s bill. We all know that using AC can touch electricity’s monthly bill to a thousand. Whether you don’t have an air conditioner or want to save money on bills, or no electricity, there are lots of ways to keep cool as the mercury rises. Here are some good ones.
So, keep your cool and...
Keep The Sun Out
One of the best ways to make sure your house stays cool in summer is to keep the sun out. But when the temperature rises, let the hot air go out. Use heat blocking curtains (or heavy curtains) and keep them closed when the sun rises or temperature increases.
Get Ice Water Bottle
Take a hot water bottle and keep it in the freezer to create a bed friendly ice pack. Use it to provide you cold comfort.
Say Bye To Lingerie
Human genitals have more sweat glands. It causes sweating and it’ll stay trapped within your clothes. So avoid wearing undergarments this summer, particularly when you have to sleep.
Freeze Your Sheets
Keep your sheets in the freezer for a few minutes before going to bed. We recommend placing them in a plastic bag first unless you want the smell of tomatoes and capsicums. This method won’t keep you cool all night, but it’ll surely keep you cool for some hours.
Water To The Rescue
Sweating is very common in summers and can cause dehydration. To stay hydrated, drink lots of water and fluids, and also fruits like watermelon, etc. Staying hydrated can keep your body cool. Besides, nothing can beat a cold water shower in hot days.
Get Tech-y
Place a box, filled with ice cubes, in front of a table fan. The breeze will pick up cold water from the ice’s surface as it melts, creating a cooling mist.
Get Loose
Opt for loose cotton shirt or clothes, through which air can pass easily. It’ll keep you cool in hot summer days.
Create Ventilation
Rooms can get pretty suffocating if there’s a lot of stuff in it. Create your own ventilation, by pacing a fan across a window or door, so that a cross breeze is created by the wind outside and the fan. You can also use multiple fans, for super cool airflow.

Get Low
Hot air rises, so prefer sleeping close to the ground. If you are living in a one storey home, then put your mattress on the floor. If you live in a multistorey house, then sleep on the ground floor or in the basement instead of an upper floor.
Sleep Like An Egyptian
Well, the Egyptian definitely knows how to keep things cool. They had a technique, where sleeping with a slightly wet sheet instead of blankets can keep you cool and fresh on sultry summer nights.
Follow the above-mentioned points and turn your unbearable hot summer days into chilly days!
