Delhi witnessed a horrific incident at the beginning of the New Year 2023 when a 20-year-old woman was killed after she was hit and dragged for several kilometres by a car. Five people have been arrested in the case and have been taken into remand for three days.
In the wee hours of Sunday, January 1, 2023, in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri, Anjali Singh was dragged for nearly one and a half hours for nearly 12 kilometres after her scooty was hit by a Baleno car.

A few days prior to this, Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant also met with a road accident on his way to Roorkee early in the morning and got severly injured. He has been transferred to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital from Dehradun on January 4 after his health was comparatively stable.
Such accidents time and again make us wonder how safe are we actually on the roads both behind the wheels and outside. As per government data, about 80,000 people are killed in road accidents every year in India which is 13 percent of the total fatality all over the world. And most of the time, it is the man behind the wheels whose carelessness or lack of road safety awareness causes the accident.
