Deepika Padukone Wants To Become A Minister Of What?

Deepika Padukone was recently awarded Iconic Performer of the Year at the Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year Awards 2019. Looking stunning in a white saree, she accepted the award from the state minister Devendra Fadnavis. After accepting the award, Deepika revealed in a chat that she would like to become a minister if given a chance.

Deepika Interested In Politics?

In a candid chat at the event, Deepika confessed that although she doesn’t know much about politics, if given a chance she would love to become the Minster for Swachh Bharat. Why? Because she has OCD when it comes to cleanliness and she is very passionate when it comes to cleaning. She also shared a funny story about this habit which made her very popular among friends. For the awards function, Deepika wore a beautiful pristine white saree designed by Rahul Mishra. The description of the saree on the Delhi-based designer’s page will blow you away: 

Deepika is wearing the Zellige hand-embroidered blouse and the Gauhar Saree with a scalloped border from the Charbagh collection. The Saree has been made with renewed techniques of traditional Chikankari. Finished with Organza scallops, which are embroidered with pearls adding an imperial glow to its jewel-like quality. The blouse has been finished with 18th century bullion knots and ‘Paani ka kaam’ in ‘Zari’, mimicking miniature waves in water.

While Deepika’s comments about joining politics sound anything but serious there are many female actors who have taken the plunge in politics including Hema Malini, Jaya Prada, Jaya Bachchan, Kirron Kher, Gul Panag, Shabana Azmi, Smriti Irani and even the ‘Jejus’ girl Rakhi Sawant! While many of these names took to politics when they were past their prime and performed very well in the field, it remains to be seen who will follow suit from the current crop of actors in Bollywood.
