Deepika Padukone was recently awarded Iconic Performer of the Year at the Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year Awards 2019. Looking stunning in a white saree, she accepted the award from the state minister Devendra Fadnavis. After accepting the award, Deepika revealed in a chat that she would like to become a minister if given a chance.

In a candid chat at the event, Deepika confessed that although she doesn’t know much about politics, if given a chance she would love to become the Minster for SwachhBharat. Why? While Deepika’s comments about joining politics sound anything but serious there are many female actors who have taken the plunge in politics including Hema Malini, Jaya Prada, Jaya Bachchan, Kirron Kher, Gul Panag, Shabana Azmi, Smriti Irani and even the ‘Jejus’ girl Rakhi Sawant! While many of these names took to politics when they were past their prime and performed very well in the field, it remains to be seen who will follow suit from the current crop of actors in Bollywood.
