Who Is Chef Suvir Saran?

Chef Suvir Saran, who is an educator and a Michelin-star chef, is a fun-loving, dream-chaser and risk-taker personality who is one of the famous faces of the LGBTQIA+ community in India. He also owns America's first Michelin-starred Indian restaurant ‘Devi.’ He is also the author of two bestsellers 'Indian Home Cooking' and 'Masala Farm'.

Chef Suvir Saran’s Journey As A Gay Man

The chef revealed that he is single for the first time in 30 years and it is a unique experience full of freedom. He said that you should always get into a relationship with someone who shares your interests and ways, someone you can have a friendship with while being in the relationship.

He also talked about how all his childhood he always felt that he was different from those around them. He said that it kept him awake for nights until he figured out his sexuality. He finally found the courage to be an openly gay man after he moved to America and met other queer people. He also shared an anecdote about how he came out to his parents. He explained that he called his mother while he was in New York and said that he wanted to tell her something. “I’m so sorry,” he said to which his mother replied, “What are you sorry about?” “I’m gay,” he told her and after a brief silence, she said, “That’s who you are.
