Chaitra Navratri 2024 is on the verge of conclusion as the ninth and the most crucial day called Navami is nearing. Every day of the nine-day long period is dedicated to one avatar of Maa Durga. On Navami, we worship Maa Siddhidatri whose name is an amalgamation of the words “Siddhi” and “Datri” which mean perfection or success and provider, respectively. Therefore, this Goddess is known to be the provider of perfection or success to her devotees.
Who Is Maa Siddhidatri - Chaitra Navratri Day 9 Goddess Significance
Maa Siddhidatri is one of the forms of Goddess Durga who is worshipped on the final day of Navratri. She is seen draped in a red saree and sitting on a fully bloomed lotus flower. She has four arms each with a weapon. In her top right hand’s index finger, she holds a discus; in her top left hand, she holds a conch shell; she holds a mace in her lower right hand; and a lotus flower in her lower left hand.
In Hindu mythology, it is believed that when there was no light or life on earth, a celestial light appeared eliminating the darkness and taking the form of Maa Mahashakti. She then created the Trinity of Gods - Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu - and appeared in the form of Maa Siddhidatri to bless them with Siddhis and reliable life partners. She also created other Gods, demigods, demons, and the universe.
