5 Latest Releases To Watch On Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5 This Week

Finally, the last festival of the year is here, Christmas! And the OTT platforms are wrapping up the year with the much-awaited sequels of your favourite series and some new content as well.

Get your blankets and meals ready to binge-watch your favourite shows if you have plans to stay home this festive season. From Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu to Pitchers, here are five series and films that you can watch on this Christmas weekend.

Ram Setu- December 23- Amazon Prime Video

According to Ramayana, Ram Setu is the bridge built by Lord Rama’s allies, the Vanara Sena(monkey army) to reach Lanka (Sri Lanka) to rescue his wife Sita, who was abducted by Lanka's king Ravana. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film follows an atheist-archaeologist-turned-believer, who must race against time to prove the true existence of the legendary Ram Setu, also known in English as Adam's Bridge, before evil forces destroy this pillar of India’s heritage. The film starring Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Satya Dev, was released in theatres this Diwali on October 25, 2022.

Pitchers Season 2- December 22- Zee5

The second season of the popular TVF series Pitchers is all set to premiere on Zee5 on December 22 after seven years of its first season. The show, which follows the life of four friends- Naveen, Jitu, Yogi, and Mandal, who quit their jobs in order to develop their own start-up company, has been brought back at fans’ request. The upcoming season is set years after the end of the first season and follows the story of the same start-up that they had founded.

Vir Das Landing- December 26- Netflix

Vir Das Landing is the fourth one-hour stand-up show by the actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das on Netflix after Vir Das: Outside In- Lockdown Special, Vir Das: Losing It, and Vir Das: For India. In this upcoming one-hour special the comedian “dives deep into his childhood in India, the perils of outrage and finding his feet in the world”.

Eken Babu Season 6- December 23- Hoichoi

Eken Babu is a Bengali web series franchise based on a detective named Ekenbabu written by Sujan Dasgupta. Eken Babu’s character, played by actor Anirban Mallik, does not look like your regular detective but he actually looks like an ordinary middle-class Bengali man who earns a little by solving cases as a detective. The first season premiered on the Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi in March 2018 and the sixth season is set to premiere this holiday season on December 23.

The Witcher: Blood Origin - December 25- Netflix

The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming fantasy mini-series adapted from The Witcher book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The series is a prequel to the popular Netflix television series The Witcher starring Henry Cavill. Set in an elven world 1,200 years before the show, the upcoming series centres on the origins of the very first Witcher.
