Bored of your regular food and want to try something different? Try this homemade simple Italian dish. Ravioli is easy to make and requires very fewer kitchen ingredients.

While there are different types of pasta available in the market, ravioli is one of the most delicious and easy ones to make out of them. Originated in Italy, this pasta is a special pasta dish that comes with filling or popularly known with envelopes. The filling of the pasta has to be creamy and flavourful. Other than the pasta, the sauce has to be rich in taste too. It can be either a white one or a red one.  Since we are keeping the filling cheesy, we will be making our pasta in red sauce. You can try different filling and sauce too.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4-5 eggs
  • Water
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 4-5 tomatoes
  • tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano
  • 2-3 finely chopped garlic
  • salt to taste
  • 3-4 eggs.

Step

  1. Step 1:

    Take a bowl to prepare the dough. Add flour, egg whites and ½ cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon oil and form a dough. Knead the dough on a clean surface if necessary. Cover and leave for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Step 2:

    To prepare the sauce, in a saucepan add oil, let in heat for 2 minutes. Add garlic, and tomatoes, let it cook for 7-8 minutes, add tomato puree. You can also add red chilli powder and red tomato sauce for flavour.

  3. Step 3:

    Add salt, cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  4. Step 4:

    To prepare the ravioli filling, mix cheese, and egg, mix well. Set the filling aside.

  5. Step 5:

    To prepare the ravioli pasta, divide pasta dough into four to six sections. Roll one portion. Put one teaspoon filling at 4-5 inches distance. Brush water around and fold the sheet over. Press to seal the edges.

    Lastly, add your ravioli in the sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve on a plate, add oregano and cheese.
