The nine-day festival of Sharad Navratri has begun, and devotees of Goddess Durga are celebrating it across India with enthusiasm. Many devotees fast during the nine days to seek the blessings of the Goddess.
During fasting, one has to follow a light sattvic diet. But many end up with low energy during this time because they are not having full meals as they regularly do.
Here are three vrat recipes you can make that will boost your energy levels:
1. Sabudana Khichdi
Sabudana Khichdi is an energy-boosting food that is easy to digest and has several benefits.
Here is an easy recipe:
Ingredients Required:
- 1 cup sago (sabudana)
- 1/2 cup roasted peanut
- 2 tsp white rock salt (sendha namak)
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 3-4 dried red pepper
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- A handful of coriander leaves
- 2 curry leaves
- 2 green chillies
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
How To Make?
- Wash the sabudana and soak it in water for about an hour.
- Then drain and spread it over a thick cloth for about one hour.
- After that, mix the sabudana, peanuts, salt, and chilli powder in a bowl until coated well.
- In a kadhai, heat ghee. Then, add cumin seeds, dried red pepper, and curry leaves.
- After two-three minutes, add sabudana mixture and cook for a few minutes.
- Next, mix lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves and green chillies.
- Serve hot.
2. Mixed Fruit Smoothie
Fruits can give the body a quick jolt of energy and help you bounce back. Mix fruits with milk, honey, and other ingredients to make a healthy smoothie. Here’s one quick recipe.
Ingredients Required:
- Fruits (Banana, guava, strawberry, etc.)
- Yoghurt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Milk
How To Make?
- In a blender, add fruits, honey, yoghurt and milk.
- Blend everything well.
- Pour it into a glass and add some ice cubes.
3. Energy Roll
Energy rolls are a super healthy choice that will keep you rejuvenated through the day. It is made with dry fruits.
Ingredients Required:
- Deseeded dates
- Walnuts
- Almonds
- Raisins
- Poppy seeds
- Pistachios
How To Make?
- In a grinder, grind walnuts, almonds, pistachios, raisins, and dates to make a coarse mixture.
- Then, transfer it to a butter paper. Roll it into a cylindrical shape and refrigerate it for 30 minutes.
- After that, remove the paper and roll it with poppy seeds.
- Cut it into small pieces.
