If you crave something light, healthy and delicious to kick start your day, then rava cheela is the epitome of what you are looking for. Inherited from the North Indian Cuisine, it is prepared similarly to the Besan cheela. The recipe also has a strong resemblance to the instant rava uttapam from South Indian cuisine.

Rava Cheela Ingredients

  • 1 cup rava / sooji / semolina
  • ½ cup curd/yoghurt
  • ½ tsp salt to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped tomato
  • 1 green finely chopped chilli
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil for cooking cheela

Rava Cheela Recipe

  • To begin with, take a large bowl and add 1 cup rava and ½ cup curd.
  • Now add ¾ cup water and ½ tsp salt to taste.
  • Take a whisker and mix the ingredients well without forming any lumps.
  • Let it rest for 20 minutes or till the rava swells completely.
  • Now add 2 tbsp onion, 2 tbsp tomato, 1 green chilli,½ tsp ginger paste and 2 tbsp coriander leaves.
  • Mix well and add water if required to get a thick flowing consistency batter.
  • Now grease a pan with oil and spread a ladleful of batter in a circular.
  • Pour ½ to 1 tsp of oil around the edges.
  • Cover and cook the sooji cheela for 2 minutes or till it gets cooked well.
  • Flip over and press gently making sure the cheela gets cooked from both sides.
  • Continue to simmer for another minute or till the cheela gets cooked completely.
  • Serve rava cheela with green chutney or as it is.

    Add all the remaining ingredients and water. Mix well to make a flowing consistency batter.

  • Step 4 :

    Spread grease on a pan and spread ladleful of batter. Pour oil around the edges.

  • Step 5 :

    Cover and cook cheela for 2 minutes. Flip and repeat.

  • Step 6 :

    Serve with green chutney.
