- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- A pinch of asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- 2 large beetroot, boiled
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup oats powder
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
Beetroot Cheela Recipe
- Combine besan, oats flour, carom seeds, salt, and asafoetida in a bowl. Whisk until the dry ingredients are well incorporated.
- Chop the cooked beetroots into chunks and blend them into a smooth puree.
- Combine the beetroot puree with the dry ingredients and mix until a vibrant red-pink batter forms. Adjust the consistency by adding water as needed, aiming for a medium-thick texture. Finally, stir in the chopped coriander leaves and onions.
- Heat a non-stick tawa over medium heat and brush with a few drops of oil. Pour two ladlefuls of the batter onto the tawa and spread evenly in a circular motion. Cook the cheela until it's golden brown and crispy on both sides. Repeat with the remaining batter to make more cheelas.
- Your delicious cheelas are now ready! Serve them with a dollop of curd, a side of mint chutney, or your favourite dip for a satisfying treat.
