Ingredients

  • ½ cup Arhar dal
  • 1 tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ cup Whole wheat flour or atta
  • 1 tbsp Besan
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Red chili powder
  • pinch of hing
  • ⅛ tsp Ajwain
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ⅓ cup Water
  • For dhokli - ½ tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 1/2 cup water
  • ¼ cup Tomato chopped 1 Green chili slit
  • ½ tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp Jaggery
  • Salt to taste 1 tbsp Lemon juice 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • For tadka - 1 tbsp Oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Cumin seeds
  • 6-7 Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 Cloves
  • ¼ inch Cinnamon stick 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 Dried red chilies
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • small pinch Hing

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Wash dal and then soak it in water for 20 minutes.

  • Step 2 :

    In a pressure cooker, add dal and a cup of water.

  • Step 3 :

    In a muslin cloth, add peanuts, tie it and then place in the pressure cooker. You can keep the peanut potli in a steel bowl.

  • Step 4 :

    Cover lid and let cook for 6-7 whistles.

  • Step 5 :

    Next, add wheat flour to a bowl, sprinkle all masalas, some oil and knead the dough.

  • Step 6 :

    Keep the dough aside for 15 minutes.

  • Step 7 :

    Divide the dough in equal portions and roll out in small pieces and then cut into diamond square pieces.

  • Step 8 :

    On a non stick pan, cook the dhoklis on both sides and keep aside.

  • Step 9 :

    Now open the pressure cooker and take out the peanuts potli. Keep peanuts aside.

  • Step 10 :

    Add 2 cups of water to dal and blend.

  • Step 11 :

    Sprinkle chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, ginger paste, green chilli, tomatoes.

  • Step 12 :

    Add jaggery, mix and let it cook.

  • Step 13 :

    In a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds. Next add bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves. Saute.

  • Step 14 :

    Add peanuts and lemon juice to it.

  • Step 15 :

    Now time to add this tempering to the dal.

  • Step 16 :

    Boil the dal once again and add dhoklis to it. Let cook for 1-2 minutes.

    Pour some ghee on the dal dhokli and serve.
