Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons desi ghee
  • 1 bowl of khoya
  • ½ cup of boiled milk
  • ½ tablespoon saffron
  • 1 ½ cup of dry coconut powder
  • ½ cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cardamom (elaichi) powder

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Start by soaking your flavourful saffron (kesar) in luke warm milk. Keep in the bowl for around 7 minutes.

  • Step 2 :

    For your peda, heat a deep bottomed pan, add 1 ½ tablespoon of ghee. Keep it on low flame.

  • Step 3 :

    Add grated khoya and then saffron soaked milk. Stir well and later all cardamom powder to the mixture.

  • Step 4 :

    Increase the flame to medium heat and keep stirring until the khoya starts leaving oil. Cook for 7-10 minutes.

  • Step 5 :

    Turn off the flame, you want to cool the mixture down so, transfer it to big bowl. Let it rest for about 5 minutes.

  • Step 6 :

    After it is cool, add powdered coconut and powdered sugar. Use clean hands for mixing well. You want the consistency to be thick like a soft dough. Let sit for another 5 minutes.

  • Step 7 :

    Prepare to make peda or balls. Grease your hands with ghee. Divide the dough into 25-30 small balls.

  • Step 8 :

    Starting rolling the first ball in your hand. You can make a flat peda and call make a small design by pressing the peda in the centre. Repeat the process on other balls too.

  • Step 9 :

    Once done, serve fresh or store in an airtight to using later.
