South Indian dishes have a very unique and distinct flavour that treats your taste buds in the best way. Right from rasam to dosa and to idli, sambhar, etc all dishes can be enjoyed with the classic coconut chutney. Therefore here's taking a look at the recipe for coconut chutney

  • In a bowl, take 3/4 cups of coconut. Add about 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of gram or roasted peanuts.
  • Further add 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 green chilies, 1/8 inches ginger, and a handful of coriander leaves too.
  • And pour some 1/4 cup of water. Then transfer to a blender to blend well.
  • Taste the chutney for any missing ingredients and make the adjustments accordingly.
  • Then in a pan, heat some oil, add 1/4 teaspoons of mustard, 1 broken red chili, and 1 pinch urad dal with 5-6 curry leaves. Once hot, add some hing to this and pour the tempering to your chutney and you're done.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Coconut
  • 2 Tablespoons Of Roasted
  • Peanuts
  • 1/2 Cumins Seeds
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Green Chilies
  • 1/8 Inches Ginger
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 1/4th Cup Water
  • 1-2 Oil
  • 1/4 Teaspoons Mustard
  • 1 Broken Red Chili
  • 1 Pinch Urad Dal
  • 5 Curry Leaves
  • Hing

Step

  1. Step 1:

    Take some 3/4 cups coconut in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of roasted peanuts, 1/2 cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 green chilies, 1/8 inches ginger and coriander leaves.

  2. Step 2:

    Add 1/4th cup water and make a paste in the blender.

  3. Step 3:

    Prepare a tempering with some hot oil 1/4 teaspoons mustard, 1 broken red chili, 1 pinch urad dal and 5 curry leaves.

  4. Step 4:

    Finally heat the mixture and add hing to it.

  5. Step 5:

    Transfer this tempering to the chutney and enjoy with your favourite south dishes.
