How To Make Siddhu:
- First, wash the urad dal with water. Then soak it for around two hours in water.
- Place some ghee and flour in a medium-sized bowl. Add some salt and yeast to it. Mix the dough in the bowl with some lukewarm water. The dough must be soft. Rest the dough for about two hours once it is done.
- Remove all the extra water from the dal and coarsely grind it. The dal paste should be placed on a plate. Now add red chilli powder, grated ginger, chopped green chilli, coriander leaves, asafoetida, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt to it. Mix the ingredients with the dal well and then keep it aside.
- Now divide the dough into small pieces. With your hands, fold it into a circle. Now, form one of those pieces of dough into a circle, being careful to keep it thick.
- Now fill 2 spoons of stuffing in it and fold the dough in half. Seal the edges well. You can shape it like a bun or like garlic bread. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
- Pour 2 to 2.5 cups of water into a pan and boil it. Put some ghee or oil in a strainer pan and grease it. Now gently set the strainer pan on top of the water-filled pan and steam it. After 15 to 20 minutes of steaming, the delicious Siddhu is ready to be served.
- Serve it hot with some chutney and a generous amount of ghee on top.
