Mathris are the most loved snacks and we usually buy them from outside and enjoy it with our tea. However, you can prepare delicious, crisp mathris at home too. It is winter time so you will easily get methi. Methi mathris are really easy to prepare and make the perfect snack.

You can even store these mathris in a container and enjoy these for days. You can serve these mathris to your guests at your tea party also.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Maida
  • 1/4 cup sooji
  • 1/2 teaspoon Carom Seeds or ajwain
  • 1 tsp crushed Kasuri Methi or dry methi leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to knead dough

Step

  • Step 1 :

    In a bowl, add maid, sooji, ajwain seeds, dried methi, black pepper, salt and ghee. Mix all the ingredients well.

  • Step 2 :

    Now keep adding water as required to need the dough. Make sure that the dough is hard, a little harder than your regular roti dough.

  • Step 3 :

    Cover with muslin cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

  • Step 4 :

    Divide the dough in equal portions and using a rolling pin, roll into a flat mathri.

  • Step 5 :

    Using a fork, prick the mathris. This will prevent oil getting soaked.

  • Step 6 :

    Heat oil in kadhai and fry all the mathris.

  • Step 7 :

    After the mathris cool, store in an air tight container. You can store these for 10 to 15 days.
