How To Make Gilgeori Toast (Korean Street Toast)

Gilgeori Toast

1. Begin the Gilgeori Toast recipe by thinly slicing the cabbage, spring onions, carrot, and onion.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper.

3. In a separate bowl, combine the cabbage, carrot, onion, and spring onions. Add the whisked egg and mix well to coat the vegetables.

4. Now melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Toast the milk bread slices until golden brown on both sides. Set aside.

5. Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Pour in the egg and veggie mixture and spread it into a square shape, slightly larger than the bread slices. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices milk bread
  • 1/2 bowl shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 shredded small carrot
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 bowl chopped spring onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

  • Step 1 :

    Preheat a non-stick pan over medium heat.

  • Step 2 :

    Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.

  • Step 3 :

    In a small bowl, mix thinly sliced cabbage, carrot, onion, and spring onions until well combined. Once it is mixed then add an egg to it with salt and pepper.

  • Step 4 :

    Place two bread slices, butter side down, onto the pan.

  • Step 5 :

    Carefully pour the egg and veggie mixture evenly on top of the bread slices and spread it into a square shape.

    Place the remaining bread slices on top of the mixture, butter side up.

    Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Once it is done add some ketchup, and mayonnaise as per your liking to it.
