Treat everyone at home with this restaurant-like Indo-Chinese dish of Chilli Paneer!
First, start with cutting the paneer into 1-inch cubes.
Then, prepare the batter for marinating the paneer by mixing all-purpose flour (maida) with 2 tablespoons of corn flour, black pepper powder, and salt with 6 tablespoons water. Make sure the batter is neither too thick nor too thin.
Add the paneer cubes and coat them with the batter.
Set aside the marinated paneer for 5-7 minutes.
Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium flame. Then, check if the cooking oil is hot enough by adding a small portion of batter to the hot oil.
After that, gently slide the paneer cubes one by one as this will prevent the cubes from sticking to each other. Deep (or shallow) fry the marinated paneer until it gets light brown.
Strain them on a kitchen tissue to remove the excess oil and keep them aside until needed.
Next, dissolve 1 tablespoon of corn flour in 3 tablespoons of water and also keep that aside.
Now, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan and add minced ginger and minced garlic. Sauté them for about 30 seconds over medium flame.
Switch the flame to high and add cubed onion and sauté it until it turns light brown. Then, add cubed capsicum and sliced green chillies and cook for about 2 minutes. Sauté the vegetables till they are slightly cooked but still crunchy.
Once the veggies are cooked for 1-2 minutes, add chilli sauce, soya sauce, tomato sauce, and salt as per taste. Switch to medium flame, mix the ingredients well and cook for a minute.
Stir the corn flour mixture we made earlier with a spoon and pour it into the pan.
Add the fried paneer cubes and stir and cook the dish over medium flame for around 2-3 minutes or until the gravy turns thick.
Turn off the flame and transfer the prepared Chilli Paneer to the serving dish.
Garnish the Chilli Paneer with spring onions and serve hot with noodles or fried rice.
