Ingredients

  • 3 idlis
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/2 cup yoghurt
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsl rice powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 onion

Step

  1. Step 1:

    To prepare this tasty chaat, start with cutting idlis into small pieces.

  2. Step 2:

    Make a thin batter by mixing water, rice powder, chilli powder, salt, and asafoetida.

  3. Step 3:

    Next, heat coconut oil in a pan over medium flame. Once it is hot enough, dip the idli cubes in the batter and deep fry them until they turn golden brown.

  4. Step 4:

    Now, prepare coconut-coriander chutney by mixing grated coconut, green chili, ginger, coriander leaves, and salt together. Add a tbsp of this chutney with curd and mix well.

  5. Step 5:

    In a separate pan, heat coconut oil and add mustard seeds in it along with urad dal. Saute them for a few minutes and then add chopped onion, ginger paste and green chili in it. Cook for a few minutes and then turn off the flame.

  6. Step 6:

    Mix fried idlis, onions, and chopped coriander leaves together. Top it with chilli powder, asafoetida and serve!
