Ingredients

  • Peels Of One Bottle Gourd
  • 2-3 Tbsp Of Grated Coconut
  • 3 Green Chillies
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Chana Dal
  • 1 Tbsp Tamarind Paste
  • Pinch Of Turmeric Powder
  • Pinch Of Hing Or Asafoetida
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Handful Of Curry Leaves
  • 3 Tsp Oil
  • Salt To Taste

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Peel bottle gourd skin, chop it and keep aside.

  • Step 2 :

    In a pan, add some oil, cumin seeds and green chilli. Saute for a few seconds.

  • Step 3 :

    Next, add bottle gourd peels, salt and turmeric powder. Add some water and cover the pan with a lid. Cook on low flame.

  • Step 4 :

    Now, add grated coconut and saute. Take off flame.

  • Step 5 :

    Add tamarind paste and coriander leaves to the mix.

  • Step 6 :

    In a grinder, add this mixture with some water and grind to make a coarse paste.

  • Step 7 :

    Prepare the tempering. In a pan, add some oil, mustard seeds and let them crackle. Next, add chana dal, asafoetida, curry leaves and dry red chilli. Fry for a few seconds and turn off flame.

  • Step 8 :

    Add this tempering to the chutney. Your bottle gourd peel chutney is ready! Serve with rice or roti.
