Don't Be Sad Because Of Rooh Afza Shortage As We Have Alternate Drinks For You!

Since we are short on Rooh Afza this summer, we thought of some alternative drinks and a recipe to make a Gulab drink at home. So Cheer Up Ladies!

Don't panic if there is no Rooh Afza in the market. On Ramzan or otherwise, you can make your own Gulab drink as well. But if you want to make something else, well we have an answer to that as well. There are so many other drinks that you could serve your family and guests. They are equally yum, cooling and easy to make.

Gulab Sharbat

Ingredients

  • 1 kg sugar
  • 4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom essence
  • 1 tsp tatri
  • 1/2 tsp red food colour
  • 2 tsp rose essence

Method

  • Take a wide pan and add the sugar and water in it.
  • Put the pan on high flame.
  • Add tatri and let the mixture boil.
  • Remove the scum floating on the surface of the pan -- what looks like bubbles.
  • Let the syrup boil until it reaches a consistency like that of one string.
  • Switch off the flame and add red food colour, rose and cardamom essence.
  • Sieve it all to separate the impurities.
  • Once the mixture cools fill a glass bottle.
  • Your syrup is ready.

Khus

This drink has amazing cooling properties and makes for a good substitute as well.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup khus syrup
  • 4 tbsp sabja seeds
  • 1/4 tsp of lemon juice
  • Lemon aerated drink
  • Ice cubes

Method

  • Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl or any deep container and mix well.
  • Pour into the glasses with ice cubes in them
  • Serve immediately.

Aam Panna

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg raw mango
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp roasted Jeera
  • 4 tsp black salt
  • 1 cup mint leaves

Method

  • Peel the mangoes and put them in a pressure cooker with enough water to cover them and cook till soft.
  • Remove the pressure cooker from heat and let the mangoes cool down.
  • Mash the mangoes to take out all the pulp.
  • Do not discard the water.
  • Add 5-6 cups of water in the existing water.
  • Grind the mint leaves with little water to make a paste.
  • Add ground mint, sugar, roasted cumin powder and black salt to the mango pulp mixed with water.
  • Mix well to dissolve the sugar.
  • Adjust sugar and salt according to your taste.
  • Add more water if required.
  • Let it chill for some hours and then pour into glasses.
  • Chill it for a few hours before serving.
  • Pour the panna in glasses.
  • Add some ice cubes.
  • Garnish with mint.
