Yoghurt bowls are a fun way to have a tasty breakfast with lots of nutrients. The yoghurt itself provides plenty of calcium, magnesium, and protein, in addition to active, live cultures. They are a convenient way to get your daily dose of probiotics that are linked to a number of potential health benefits for your digestive and immune systems. Here are some healthy yoghurt recipes for a healthy start to your day.
1. Pomegranate and Honey Yoghurt Bowl
The pomegranate seeds in this yoghurt bowl make it a nutritional powerhouse. They provide antioxidants that can boost your immunity.
Ingredients:
3½ cups plain Greek yoghurt
1/4 cup good quality honey, or more to taste
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pomegranate seeds or berries for topping
Directions:
Warm the honey slightly in a saucepan or microwave to help it loosen up so you can mix it in easier. But don’t overheat it as that will destroy the honey’s nutritional properties. Then in a large bowl, mix together the yoghurt with honey and vanilla extract. Place in a large shallow bowl and serve with your favourite toppings.
2. Yoghurt Bowl with Blueberries and Peaches
Start your morning with a burst of vitamin C from fresh fruits like peaches and blueberries in your yoghurt bowl.
Ingredients:
1 cup plain Greek yoghurt (2% or full-fat)
¼ cup blueberries
1 peach, sliced or chopped
1/4 cup granola or muesli
1/2 tbsp cacao nibs
drizzle of almond butter, peanut butter, or honey
Directions:
Pour Greek yoghurt in a bowl. Top with blueberries, peaches, and granola. Drizzle on your choice of nut butter or honey (if using) and serve. The peaches and blueberries sweeten up the yoghurt, while adding fibre. You can add in some cacao nibs for a hint of chocolate flavour.
