This flavourful chana dal is just perfect for lunch or dinner.

chana dal easy recipe with tadka

Do you know what's one of the best ways to add more fiber and protein to your diet? By having more dal or pulses. I come from a typical Punjabi family in North India and we rarely have a meal without dal. Chana dal or split chickpeas dal is one of the most commonly prepared dals in our home. So, here I thought of sharing its easy recipe.

This homemade dal tastes as good as the tadka dal you usually have at roadside dhabas. It is flavourful and filling! You can have it with boiled rice, chapatis or parathas.

How To Make Chana Dal?

  • Wash dal properly and soak in water for an hour.
  • In a pressure cooker, add dal, water and tumeric powder.
  • Pressure cook for 10 minutes or 7-8 whistles. Keep the dal aside.
  • In a pan, prepare tadka.
  • Add some ghee or oil.

  • Add crushed fenugreek leaves to the mix.
  • Transfer the tadka to the dal and stir.
