Ingredients

  • ¼ cup rice
  • 1 litre full fat milk
  • 100 grams palm jaggery
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped cashews or almonds
  • 1 tbsp kishmish
  • 1 small bay leaf

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Rinse ¼ cup rice and soak it for 20 minutes.

  • Step 2 :

    Chop the jaggery.

  • Step 3 :

    Boil milk in a heavy bottomed pan.

  • Step 4 :

    Simmer heat it for 8 mins and keep stirring as we have to reduce and thicken it.

  • Step 5 :

    Drain the rice of all water and add milk.

  • Step 6 :

    Add the bay leaf and cardamom powder and mix.

  • Step 7 :

    Simmer on low flame till the rice is cooked and stir often to avoid the rice from sticking to the bottom.

  • Step 8 :

    Once the rice softens add the cashes and raisins and mix well.

  • Step 9 :

    Remove the pan from the stove and let it cool for 5 minutes.

  • Step 10 :

    Now add one part of the jaggery and mix well, and then add all of it slowly and keep mixing till it dissolves.

  • Step 11 :

    Serve it hot chilled.
