Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups almonds or badaam
  • Hot water to soak almonds
  • 1 1/2 cup milk 5 tablespoons ghee
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon saffron strands (recommended)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Take a bowl and add almonds. Pour hot water to cover these almonds. Leave these almonds soaked for 3 to 4 hours.

  • Step 2 :

    Remove the almond skin and keep aside in a bowl.

  • Step 3 :

    Put all these almonds in a blender. Add milk and blend to form a paste.

  • Step 4 :

    In a heavy bottomed pan, add ghee.

  • Step 5 :

    Add the almond and milk mixture and stir well.

  • Step 6 :

    Now add sugar to the mixture and stir.

  • Step 7 :

    Next add saffron strands and mix well.

  • Step 8 :

    Cook this mixture on medium flame and keep stirring to prevent this mixture from burning.

  • Step 9 :

    Add some more ghee and mix.

  • Step 10 :

    The mixture will start leaving the sides of the pan once it is ready.

  • Step 11 :

    Turn off flame and transfer the halwa to bowls. Top with almond slivers.
