So much so that it won’t be wrong to say that every state has its own incredibly popular snack option. Dhokla, a popular appetiser from Gujrat, can be relished at any point in the day. It is a savoury cake, typically made using gram flour. But, today we will be learning a healthier recipe of this traditional Gujrati dish, oats dhokla. Ingredients

  • 1 cup of oats flour
  • 1 cup of semolina
  • 1-inch grated ginger
  • 1 cup of curd
  • ½ teaspoon of ENO or baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli
  • salt to taste

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Grind oats well to make fine oats flour.

  • Step 2 :

    Take a bowl, add curd, semolina, and oats flour together. Prepare a smooth paste and keep it aside for 10 min.

  • Step 3 :

    Preheat the steamer and grease the base with oil well.

  • Step 4 :

    After 10 minutes, stir the paste. If it is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water.

  • Step 5 :

    Then add grated ginger, salt, and baking soda in the batter.

  • Step 6 :

    Mix and pour evenly on the base. Use a spoon to even out the surface.

  • Step 7 :

    Steam it for 12-15 minutes on medium flame.

  • Step 8 :

    Switch off the burner and let it cool down.

  • Step 9 :

    For tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

  • Step 10 :

    Once the seeds start to crackle, add curry leaves, sesame seeds, and sprinkle salt.

  • Step 11 :

    Pour the tempering over the steamed dhokla. Cover from the lid for 2-3 minutes.

  • Step 12 :

    Cut the dhokla cake in squares and serve with green chutney.
