India loves snacks! Perhaps that is the reason behind having so many varieties of snacks in this country. Pakoda, vada, chaat, kachori- the list is pretty diverse and it goes on and on. So much so that it won’t be wrong to say that every state has its own incredibly popular snack option. Dhokla, a popular appetiser from Gujrat, can be relished at any point in the day. It is a savoury cake, typically made using gram flour. But, today we will be learning a healthier recipe of this traditional Gujrati dish, oats dhokla. A well-steamed snack made with love and wholesomeness of cereal grain, which will bring your family together!

Oats Dhokla, a healthier take on traditional Gujrati snack dish that you can enjoy during tea time.
Grind oats well to make fine oats flour.
Take a bowl, add curd, semolina, and oats flour together. Prepare a smooth paste and keep it aside for 10 min.
Preheat the steamer and grease the base with oil well.
After 10 minutes, stir the paste. If it is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water.
Then add grated ginger, salt, and baking soda in the batter.
Mix and pour evenly on the base. Use a spoon to even out the surface.
Steam it for 12-15 minutes on medium flame.
Switch off the burner and let it cool down.
For tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
Once the seeds start to crackle, add curry leaves, sesame seeds, and sprinkle salt.
Pour the tempering over the steamed dhokla. Cover from the lid for 2-3 minutes.
Cut the dhokla cake in squares and serve with green chutney.
