James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman has finally landed in theatres, and fans are walking out buzzing with excitement. But one question lingers as the credits roll, are there any post-credit scenes, and should you stick around for them? The answer is yes and not just one, but two bonus scenes await.
Superman Post-Credit Scenes
Yes, the new Superman movie includes both a mid-credit and a post-credit scene. If you’re planning to stay, you’ll need to wait about 10 minutes in total to catch both moments.
Though the scenes don’t necessarily tease future DCU films like Marvel’s usually do, they still offer enjoyable character moments and nods to comic book fans. These scenes feel more like extra treats rather than plot-heavy teases similar to what fans recently saw in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Superman Mid Credit Scene
The mid-credit scene, which appears roughly two minutes after the movie ends, is short but heartwarming. We see Superman sharing a quiet moment with Krypto the Superdog, gazing at Earth from the moon’s surface. With Krypto curled up beside him and Superman’s arms wrapped around his furry friend, the scene is both cute and emotionally grounded.
While the two had a rocky relationship earlier in the film, this peaceful moment shows their bond. The visual is a clear nod to the comic All-Star Superman No. 6 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, one of the inspirations behind James Gunn’s interpretation of the character.
Superman Post-Credit Scene Explained
The post-credit scene appears about seven minutes later and takes a more humorous turn. It shows a light-hearted exchange between Superman and Mister Terrific, who had earlier teamed up to reverse the chaos caused by Lex Luthor and a dimensional rift.

They are seen surveying a building that was part of the damage. When Superman points out that the structure looks “a little off,” Mister Terrific storms off in frustration. Superman, ever the nice guy, shrugs and mutters, “I can be such a jerk sometimes.” The scene doesn’t set up anything major for the next DC project and that’s intentional.
What Do These Credit Scenes Actually Mean?
While neither scene directly hints at upcoming DC Universe films, they do add depth to the characters and honour their comic book roots. The moon scene especially is a visual tribute to the All-Star Superman comic, which heavily influenced the tone and design of this movie, according to production designer Beth Mickle.
As for the post-credits moment, it helps flesh out Mister Terrific’s relationship with Superman in a fun, grounded way. But no clear setup for future storylines is offered a deliberate choice, according to CNET.
