Akshaye Khanna’s 2021 OTT Film ‘State of Siege: Temple Attack’ Revamped For Theatrical Release

For the unversed, this film by Khanna was previously released on OTT in 2021 by the title ‘State of Siege: Temple Attack’. The movie turned out to be a big hit, becoming a memorable film praised for its impactful storyline and stellar cast performance. Now the makers have decided to revamp the film and push it for theatrical release. The film will be released with the title ‘Akshardham - Operation Vajra Shakti’.

Releasing the poster of Khanna’s highly anticipated thriller film, Zee Studios wrote in the caption, "Our salute to the Nation's Special Forces. An act of terror met with unmatched bravery. The story of courage, sacrifice, and survival comes alive in #AkshardhamOperationVajraShakti In Cinemas on 4th July 2025. Stay tuned (sic)." The poster features a haunting image of temple pillars casting the shadows of armed soldiers.

Talking about the film, director Ken Ghosh said, “At the heart of every decision we made we were conscious that this wasn't just a story, it was a national tragedy, a trauma for many, and also a moment of bravery.”

He further reflected on casting Khanna saying, "Akshaye brings an intensity and integrity that very few actors possess. He doesn’t just play a character — he inhabits it with intelligence and depth. We needed someone who could convey command, calm under fire, and inner conflict without melodrama."

‘Akshardham - Operation Vajra Shakti’ Cast And Crew

The film features Khanna in the main lead as Major Hanut Singh, an NSG officer. The other cast members include Gautam Rode as Major Samar, Vivek Dahiya as Captain Rohit Bagga, Akshay Oberoi as Captain Bibek, and Abhilash Chaudhary as the lead terrorist Iqbal. The ensemble cast also has Parvin Dabas, Samir Soni, Abhimanyu Singh, Mir Sarwar, Manjari Fadnis, Chandan Roy, and Shivam Bhaargava in the key roles.
