Women with special abilities continue to achieve new heights in various fields in India. While there’s lots more to be done for the development in this sector to give them the right push, these women continue to show exemplary strength by making best of what life has given them and setting an example for others. Even Bollywood is slowly recognising the power of the specially-abled and making stories around them. And now Anushka Sharma will soon be seen playing the role of a wheelchair bound scientist in the movie Zero. So let’s have a look at a few amazing women who may be wheelchair bound but who are living their life minus any boundaries.

Now, she has travelled solo to 23 countries, including China, where she had language trouble and Taiwan where she did paragliding of all things! She also writes detailed experiences of her adventures to guide and inspire others like her.

Being the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic Games medal is no mean feat. Deepa made the entire nation proud butthat’s not her only claim to fame. She was the first person to get a license to drive a modified rally vehicle for invalids and was also a part of the Raid De Himalaya – a 1700-km drive in sub-zero temperatures for 8 days. All this after undergoing multiple surgeries for a debilitating spinal tumour that left her paralysed.

Aparna Prabhudesai-The Everest Walker

She was told she would never walk without support. Four years later, she scaled the Everest! Aparna’s story is a tale of grit as she went all out to rebuild her body and fight off a mysterious weakness of her limbs. When she scaled the Everest, she was 47 years old, but persistence and belief in her own self led her to become an inspiration for others.
