Reiterating TED’s mission of ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’, this year’s TEDxGatewaySalon will celebrate unstoppable women who have catalyzed ideas towards action against the central theme of ‘Breaking Barriers’. The platform will feature the world’s most extraordinary women risk-takers and innovators who are breaking barriers and pioneering great movements across different walks of life.These are the exceptional women speakers with inspirational stories who will be a part of the program.
Vidhya Subramanian
An eminent Bharatanatyam artist, Vidhya is known for her sensitive choreography and emotionally charged performances. Trained under gurus S.K.Rajarathnam and Kalanidhi Narayanan, her artistry has earned appreciation in India, Germany, France, UK, Russia, Afghanistan, Kenya and USA. An intelligent, articulate and moving performer, Vidhya's dance is often described as an offering of mind, body and soul. With an MA in Theatre Arts, she has enriched her artistic experience with forays into theatre and film as well.
Ankita Shah
Ankita co-founded The Poetry Club in 2013 with Trupthi Shetty. The two began The Poetry Club while they were studying to become chartered accountants. She worked as a tax consultant at Ernst &Young,and on the weekends she is busy organising poetry gatherings and performing at open mics and slams. At the moment she is the Manager of Program and Development at G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture. As for her poetry, she switches between short-form poetry about family, loss and death, and long-formspokenword poems which give voice to social issues like gender discrimination.
Aditi Prasad
Aditi is hellbent on making individuals learn how to code and develop real-world solutions for real-world challenges. With Robotix Learning Solutions, Aditi is harnessing the power of robotics, coding, STEM & Maker Space to make school education more interactive and immersive. In 2014, under the aegis ofRobotix, they next laid the groundwork for ‘Indian Girls Code’, a free, hands-on coding and robotics education programme for underprivileged girls. The first Indian Girls Code initiative was at anall-girlsorphanage Annai Ashram in Trichy, Tamil Nadu India, teaching 75 girls coding and robotics. Aditi is promoting educational pathways that lead to better careers and opportunities for girls.
AshweethaShetty
Ashweethais a social rural worker who hails from the community of bidi rollers in south India. She broke down the barriers, fought against the social norms imposed by her community through the power of education and became the first-generation graduate who founded The Bodhi Tree Foundation. The foundation today supports over a thousand college graduates who want to grow in life througheducation, life-skills, and opportunities.
Dr.Shubha Tole
Dr.Shubha is a neuroscientist, Professor and the Principal Investigator at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. Her work involves investigating the development and evolution of the mammalian brain. She is the one who discovered a gene that is crucial to the proper formation of the hippocampus, amygdala, and cortex of the brain and went on to win the Infosys Prize in the Life Sciences category in 2014. She teaches science communication, actively engages in public outreach via workshops in schools and colleges, and encourages her students to do the same.

Rwitwika Bhattacharya
The founder of Swaniti Initiative - Ank Aha, which supports parliamentarians on development issues, Rwitwika works at the nexus of governance and development. She is currently working on expanding the scope of Jaano series, which is a data platform that brings together data insights from across sectors and publicly available data sources in one space to highlight gaps that exist in public service delivery.
