In our busy lives, travel is something that lets us take a break. But solo travel for most women is still a distant dream. “Ladki ho, safe nahi hai” (You are a girl, it is not safe) has always been a hindrance. However, these five women travellers are setting goals for all the women out there. They are breaking stereotypes to achieve their goals.

Not only are they living their dreams but are also inspiring others to do the same. Check out these women travellers who are paving the way for others to achieve their wanderlust dreams.

Shivya Nath

We had to start the list with Shivya Nath as she is known as one of India’s best traveller. She is quite popular among travel enthusiasts. At just the age of 23, she left her corporate job to follow her dreams. With her journey, she has inspired many. She also promotes responsible tourism. This way she encourages travellers to follow environmentally and socially sustainable travel initiatives.

Amrita Das

An inspiration for solo travellers, Amrita Das is encouraging people to explore the world that we live in. She started her blog Travelling Ides in 2015. Her blog has been listed among the list of top 35 best female blogs to follow by Travel Junkette.

She quit her job in 2014 and started to travel the world and now she makes a living out of it.

Charukesi Ramadurai

Charukesi Ramadurai is a freelance journalist and author who has written for several big publications in India as well as other countries including Mint, Outlook Traveller, The New York Times, Deccan Herald, South China Morning Post, Forbes and many more.

Through her blogs, she shares her travel experiences and her writings can provides us with serious wanderlust.

Medhavi Davda

Another solo woman traveller and an adventure travel blogger, Medhavi is a high-altitude trekker and a certified scuba diver. Leaving her lucrative career in IT, she went to stay in Himachal Pradesh and since then she has travelled all over the world.

She has also spoken on TEDx, thus inspiring others to step outside and explore the beautiful world that we live in.

Girls On The Go

Not one but 25 women came together to form Girls On The Go, a women travellers group in 2008. From Leh Ladakh to the Arctic region, you can explore everything with them. They organise group tours for women as well as help solo travellers. Among other inspirational things, they have helped a wheelchair-bound woman enjoy skydiving and took a 90-year-old woman to the Arctic.
