Steps To Convert Old Silk Saree Into A Gown
Step 1: Take any old plain silk saree with a printed blouse fabric. This combination will ensure a pretty gown. You can use the blouse part of the saree to make the top and the plain part for the long skirt. You can use any colour and blouse print according to your preference. Make sure the saree is not worn out or untidy or else the gown will not turn out to be good.
Step 2: Once you have chosen your preferred silk saree for the gown, start by making the top first. Take the print blouse fabric, or if you don’t have that you can purchase a matching printed fabric from the market as well. Lay the fabric on the floor and fold it in half. Put any of your fitted crop tops over it for reference. Now start cutting along the crop top and make sure to leave 1 inch of extra cloth. Now stitch the fabric from the open ends to turn it into a top. You can keep the back neck wide and add some tassels to it to give it a more traditional look.

Step 3: Now it's time to make the skirt. Measure the width of your waist below the bust area and use those measurements to make the upper portion of the skirt. Take the plain saree fabric and fold it in half. Now according to the waist measurements, start marking an umbrella structure starting from the top to bottom. Cut along the marking by leaving 1 inch extra cloth. Now that you have two pieces of the skirt—the front and the back, stitch them together from the sides to convert it into a skirt. Attach the top portion of the skirt below the top by sewing it and your silk gown is ready.
