As the festive season has kick-started, many brands have initiated their 'mega sales' and the price drops are truly alluring. You want to do bulk shopping, but at what cost? Did you know that the fashion industry is the fifth biggest polluting agent and accounts for about eight to10% of our planet’s Co2 emissions?

The best way to avoid adding to this is by doing minimal buying. But, that does not mean you cannot make a style statement.

Fashion influencer Isha Borah shares some ideas to curb your consumerism this festive season and still look gorgeous:

According to her, when it comes to Indian clothing, one of the best things is that most of us already have a good collection in our wardrobes. Be it a gorgeous old saree, a collection of dupattas, regional traditional wear, or even a nice kurta or skirt. Most of us would already have a section in our wardrobes dedicated to our favourite desi festive clothes. So bring them out and style them a little differently.

You can go full creative when it comes to Indian wear. Mix and match the clothes that you already have or simply do minimal buying as required to upgrade the look.

For instance, let’s say you have a vibrant-coloured saree lying in your closet for quite a few years, you can take that out and drape it differently.

There are so many ways to drape your six yards of elegance. You can drape it like a lehenga or in a dhoti style. You can even wear it with a long skirt or simply layer it with a nice long jacket. To upgrade your overall look, you can do some minimal shopping and get yourself a stylish blouse and accessories such as a nice pair of chunky earrings or a neckpiece and even hair accessories that would enhance your outfit and give you the festive look.

Also, you can check out the pant-style saree drape and replace the saree with a long dupatta and the blouse with a chic crop top and complete the festive look by wearing a Kamarbandh or a nice belt.
