With Handloom Day coming up at the start of next week on Monday August 7, 2023 the desi fashion girls are nothing but in sheer bliss and can’t hold on to their excitement.
India has been celebrating the occasion of National Handloom Day since August 7, 2015 to honour and acknowledge the handicraft and weaving community and artisans in the country that hone this specific art form.
With the rich Indian culture and heritage our closets are blessed with intricate handloom pieces coming from all over the country including the north Indian states and the ones in the South Dravidian region.
A multitude of exclusive handcrafted fabrics such as Kanjivaram, Banarasi, Phulkari and more are adornments that originate from every corner of the country. These varieties of sarees represent India’s diverse and vibrant culture and are a symbol of the excellent craftsmanship prevalent in the mainland.
On the occasion of Handloom Day 2023, let us now take you through a showcase of how B-town actors and divas like to style themselves in Indian handlooms. A bevy of actors make a bee line of handicraft outfit draped beauties including Dia Mirza, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rani Mukerjee and the list goes on.
Handlooms of course consist of slow and sustainable style sartorial choices and are a mirror to India’s heritage and its regal style feminine dressing.
Here are three handpicked handloom laden outfits, served fresh from the gullies of Bollywood that give us major indie OOTD goals.
