A night of glitz and glamour along with some stellar performances by celebrities and a nail-biting finale came to a fitting conclusion with the crowning of a new Miss India, who will be all geared up to represent the country at the prestigious international pageant Miss World 2019.

Rajasthan’s Suman Rao has been judged Miss India 2019. Miss India 2018 Anukreethy Vas from Tamil Nadu crowned Suman as her successor in an emotional moment. Shivani Jadhav from Chhattisgarh bagged Miss Grand India 2019 title, while Bihar’s Shreya Shanker won Miss India United Continents 2019 during the star-studded ceremony at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Telangana’s Sanjana Vij was sashed Miss India Runner-Up 2019.

The Miss India Organisation took to their official Twitter handle and posted an image of the winners with the caption, "Dreams do come true! Congratulations to our @fbb_india @ColorsTV Femina Miss India 2019 Winners Shivaaani Jadhav, Suman Rao Shreya Shanker and Sanjana Vij. Welcome to Miss India family."

 

Notably, six Miss Worlds have made India proud at the international stage including the likes of Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and most recently Manushi Chillar who bagged the blue crown in 2017, seventeen years after the ‘Quantico’ actress had brought home the honour for India. Needless to say, Suman has a lot riding on her shoulders.

Who Is Miss India 2019 Suman Rao?

Suman Rao from Rajasthan, who is all of 20 years, will be representing India at Miss World 2019 in Thailand in December this year. She was a student of Mahatama School of Academics and Sports, Navi Mumbai and has completed her CA degree from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Maharashtra. Her height is 1.78 m (5 feet 10 inches). 

Suman feels that she wants to do things that most of the people avoid doing considering it to be impossible. Her inspirations are her father and mother. Winning the prestigious crown, Miss India 2019, Suman has said that the crown is one of the biggest achievements of her life. 

In her profile for Femina Miss India 2019, Suman answered that she finds Ranveer Singh to be the sexiest man alive. Her favourite actor is Shahid Kapoor.

The start-studded evening saw enthralling performances by Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Norah Fatehi, and Mouni Roy, while illustrious panel of judges included designers Falguni Shane Peacock, Miss World 2018 from Mexico Vanessa Ponca de Leon, Huma Qureshi, Chitrangada Singh, Remo D’souza, Dutee Chand, Aayush Sharma, and Sunil Chhetri.

 

Femina Miss India 2019 is the 56th edition of Miss India beauty pageant. 

The pageant conducted a nationwide hunt in all the 30 states (including the national capital, Delhi). The top 3 contestants from every state won a Golden Ticket to the State’s Zonal crowning ceremony which was held in Bangalore (South Zone), Delhi (North Zone), Pune (West Zone), and Kolkata (East Zone) of which one of the three was crowned as the respective State Winner. Following the initial rounds, the 30 state winners underwent rigorous trainings from the best in the industry for a duration of 40 days before the Grand Finale which saw Suman Rao winning the crown.
