The wedding season is here and Indian brides are embracing a fresh wave of bridal fashion that combines traditional elements with modern flair. This year, bridal gowns are no longer bound by conventional norms. Indian brides are opting for bold, personalised designs that reflect their individuality while honouring cultural heritage. Ms Aanchal Sawhney, Founder and CEO of Kaynaat, New Delhi shared the latest bridal trends in gowns that are dominating the Indian wedding scene this season.

4 Bridal Gown Trends You Need to Know

Here are the bridal gown trends of the season:

Contrasting Colour Palettes

Aanchal highlighted that while red, maroon, and gold continue to be popular for Indian bridal lehengas, brides are choosing contrasting colour palettes that make a bold statement. She added that this season, rich jewel tones like emerald green, royal blue, and mustard yellow are making waves, often paired with more traditional hues like gold, ivory, and blush pink. Brides are opting for soft metallics or pastel shades with rich accents, creating a balanced yet striking visual appeal.

Intricate And Unique Embroidery Designs

Sawhney mentioned that embroidery has always been an integral part of Indian bridal wear, and this season’s trends are all about intricate, personalised designs. From delicate zari work to hand-stitched pearls, brides are choosing embroidery that tells a story. Custom motifs like lotus flowers, peacocks, or even personal symbols are becoming common, with some brides incorporating subtle elements of their heritage or family history. Modern techniques like 3D embellishments and crystal beading are adding texture and depth to the garments, making them even more luxurious. She highlighted that personalised embroidery, such as initials, wedding dates, or meaningful quotes, is also trending, giving brides a way to make their gown uniquely theirs.

Self-Designed Fabrics

Sawhney highlighted that with the growing demand for uniqueness, many Indian brides are turning to self-designed fabrics for their bridal lehengas. These fabrics are tailored to the bride’s specific preferences, featuring bespoke patterns or textures that can’t be found anywhere else. Brides can choose from handwoven silks, rich brocades, or luxurious organza fabrics, and customise them with intricate detailing like embroidery, sequins, or metallic threads. The beauty of self-designed fabrics lies in the ability to create a completely original look, making the bride’s outfit a reflection of her style.

Fusion Of Contemporary Silhouettes With Traditional Touches

Sawhney said that while the classic lehenga choli remains a staple, this season’s bridal gowns are embracing a fusion of contemporary silhouettes and traditional elements. Brides are experimenting with innovative cuts. These modern styles are often paired with traditional fabrics like silk, velvet, or brocade, and accented with rich embellishments. The combination of new-age designs with timeless techniques, like zari work or stone embellishments, allows brides to honour tradition while expressing their contemporary sensibilities.
