In the monsoon season, we tend to break out more, get sticky skin and have to battle many other skin diseases which is why it is important to not use certain skincare products at this time. Summer skincare routine is different from the regime you follow in the rainy season. Here are some important changes you need to make right now if you have not already.
Ditch Oil Based Products
Switch to water-based products and ditch the oil-based ones this season. You need to swap with something lighter. Dr. Kiran Godse, consultant dermatologist, Fortis Hospital, Mumbai, told a media house that " it is important to use hyaluronic acid or water-based formula instead of heavy cream, as the skin tends to hold on to more water in the humid season."
Godse also shared that if you apply a heavy cream on oily skin with enlarged pores, your skin can get clogged and lead to blackheads, especially on the nose and chin.
Daniel Bauer, a celebrity hair and makeup artist, shared with a media house that “The key is to let the skin live a little during the monsoon. Choose light water-based primers, water-based foundations and powder blushes to prevent clogged pores. These will feel more comfortable on the skin, and will also last longer. Waterproof makeup products might be your go-to for this season, but they are equally hard to take off. Remember to clean your face well before you sleep to avoid further clogging.

No More Wipes
Taking of the makeup with a wipe is easy but during the monsoon season, it might not be the right choice. Simply because since it gets humid in this reason the sebum production of our skin increases which leads to breakouts. So to take it all out we need deep cleansing and thus comes in double-cleansing, wherein you clean with a wipe but a face wash and scrub as well. Use a face scrub on alternate days.
We Need Anti-Fungal Powder

Godse says that “One of the most common skin concern this season is rashes on the body due to fungal infections. To avoid this, it’s important that you take regular showers, wear breathable fabrics that dry fast in the rains and let your skin breathe and stay dry. Do not use over-the-counter products to treat your rashes as they contain steroids, which might offer immediate relief from itching and redness, but in the long term, they can damage your skin and make you more prone to acne and redness."
It is important to switch to calamine lotion and use anti-fungal powder for the body after showers.
Scalp Care
When our hair becomes wet in the rain, frizziness becomes inevitable. Therefore it is important to condition your hair well to stay away from the frizz in this season. Therefore shampoo your hair more often and use a clarifying or anti-dandruff shampoo.
