Meta is often questioned for data privacy and security, therefore, it keeps introducing new features to ensure users feel secure while using Facebook and WhatsApp. According to reports, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently introduced a new feature for the messaging platform to facilitate users to protect their chats and confidential information.

What Is A Secret Code Feature For Chat Locks?

The new feature helps a user generate a secret code for locked chats. How is it helpful, you ask? It allows users to add another layer of security to private and confidential conversations.

As you are aware you can hide your chats by locking them, but now you can also create a secret code so that no one else can find those conversations no matter how hard they try to find them. You can search them by searching specific names on the search bar.

In a blog post, Zuckerberg was quoted saying, “Rolling out secret code to Chat Lock on WhatsApp so you can protect (How To Protect Yourself From Fraud Calls) your chats with a unique password. Now you can set your locked chats to only appear when you type the secret code in the search bar, so no one can unintentionally discover your most private conversations.”

What users can do is create a secret password, different from what they have been using to unlock their phones, for locking chats. Since only they know the code, they can unlock the chat and review its content. Using this feature, you can also hide the Locked Chats folder and find it by typing the secret code in the search bar. If you wish to lock any chat, you can simply long press on the icon and an option will appear for you to secure it from others. You no longer need to visit settings and navigate this option.

How To Use The New Secret Code For Chat Lock Feature?

Meta is making for easier for users to use its features. It has been making navigation easy because people from all age groups use the application for personal and professional conversations.

Here is how you can use this new feature,

• Open the application on your mobile phone.
• To hide a particular locked chat, navigate the list of locked chats.
• You will see three dots on the right, click them, and tap ‘Hide Locked Chats’.
• Users will see a space to enter the secret code they wish to use to access confidential conversations.
• Once hidden, the locked chats will not be a part of the main chat window, and no one, except you, will be able to get their hands on your private conversations (Privacy Features In WhatsApp).
• If you wish to review the hidden conversation, you have to type the secret code in the search bar, and your conversations will temporarily appear on the screen.

You can use this feature to ensure neither conversation nor any document, image, or video leaks. It will help you secure your conversations.
